Since April 2022, anyone who is fully vaccinated can enter Malaysia without testing or quarantine. However, Taiwan authorities have reduced the mandatory quarantine days from ten days to seven days since 9 May 2022. Even though the quarantine days have been reduced, my paid leave is still not enough for my leaving.
In the early morning today, my oldest sister sent me a message, urging me to return home, as our father is going to be a deafblind person. It is becoming hard to communicate with people in everyday life. I have not returned back since the pandemic. She wished I could come back to visit our parents. Nevertheless, if I could go home, what should I do? I had no idea how to communicate with a deafblind person who barely sees or hears.I have a dog that is usually highly dependent on me, she will become extremely anxious and showed distress behaviors such as self-harm. Always developing a red, irritated area that arose from persistent biting, scratching, gnawing, or licking at her skin. She is the apple of my eye, I need to plan extensively and take it lightly. Leaving my dog at home for a week with my landlord is its maximum length of day. I am afraid that she cannot adjust well to unfamiliar surroundings if I am not her company for more than a week.
To wrap up my thinking today, I decided not to fly back home by this year. I will wait for the new policy of loosening the COVID-19 restriction and my available time which minimizes the impacts on my dog. I am likely to know which will work out better for everyone in the long run when I am going away from home
